Yellow Splenden Spade Tail (Franks Bettas)
Imported from Franks Bettas. His personality is somewhat reserved and wasn't the easiest to breed. He lived 3 years.

Yellow Fancy koi HMPK

Purchased from a local importer. She is the perfect blend of spicy towards males but peaceful in the sorority. She marbled completed to blue within 3 months!

Goals

This is my first generation of wild type hybrids. My goal is to create colorful bettas with excellent form and spade tails. This will take multiple generations so for this first one I am just hoping to introduce the spade tail gene and create bettas with nice form.

The Spawn

Hatched : 03-05-25

Amount : 12

Deformities : The Caudal Fins were a range of shapes, some being more spade tail like, some being more rounded or mishappen. One mismatched ventral fin.

Colors : Blue, Orange, Marble

Goals Met : All of the bettas have really nice bodies and clean toplines. The males have slightly prolongated caudal fins creating small spade tails. Some of
them have excellent finnage, while others are nice but not breeding quality.

Continue : I am super happy with this spawn! The colors that came out of them were much nicer then I was excepting. I've selected two males and one
female to continue with!

8 Months

It's been really interesting watching these bettas continue to grow and change. The male's caudal fins in particular have been fascinating to watch. I am very suprised to see that they are still changing shape. Male 01's had started to grow pointy around 6 months but is now rounding out, while Male 03's Caudal Fin has become more misshapen with age. Male 02 has continued to have a gorgeous shape and I plan to give him a spawn in the spring. The Female 01's colors have gotten more vibrant and she lost most of her marble body spots. I really love her colors!
