In early 2024 I started thinking about what I'd like to work on in the future. My yellow koi line was finally producing the bettas I was wanting to create, I had given up on my marble dumbos, and I was ready to start my next project. It was around this time that Prism Bettas teamed up with Franks Bettas to bring in wild types. I instantly fell in love with a specific yellow male with a long tail and cyan striping. I impulse purchased him and a yellow female. At the time I figured I would pair him to my yellow koi line to take it in a new direction, but life threw a curveball. My company had unexpectedly shut down, and my new job took me across the country. I was able to bring the spadetails and a few other bettas with me, but was unable to breed at that time. A year passed, I bought a house, went through grief, and finally had a second to breath again. It was in this time I thought about bettas. The ones I brought with me had been living in their own tanks, but hadn't been conditioned in a long time. I started conditioning them to see who would be interested in breeding and found that the Spadetails were still good to go! After a lot of research, I purchased a group of plakat females and started this line!
Form
A Spade Tail Caudal Fin that is pointy, exaggerated, and evenly balanced on top and bottom.
Long ventral fins with no splitting
Other fins should match the Betta Standard
A Strong Topline that is smooth with no bumps or divots
Personality
Males should be lively and spirited. Not too aggressive with the females. They should have the correct betta instincts and not be shy.
Females should be equally spirited but be able to cohabitate together. They should be willing to flare at males and not be shy.
Coloring
Yellow, Orange, Pink, or Nemo coloring
Full white or iridescent mask
Minimal dark blue spotting or none at all
Cyan Fin Stripes

Hatched 4/5/25
Wild x HMPK
Hybrid 01
Aged and rehomed
Pretty Hybrids were created that had slight spade tails and marble coloring. Bettas are healthy and vivacious, great spawn!
Hatched 5/5/25
Wild x Wild
Wild 02
Aged and rehomed
The fry were very slow growing, but developed a particularly nice female I plan to use. The males are too easy going and won't be bred.
Hatched 6/10/25
Wild x Wild
Hybrid 03
Aged and rehomed
This spawn produced gorgeous fry with excellent colors and finnage, but also had health issues. They will not be bred further.
Hatched 7/21/25
Wild x HMPK
Hybrid 04
100g pond
They are growing nicely, great form showing, a few cello fry!
Hatched 7/30/25
50x50 Hybrid x Wild
Hybrid 05
(25g pond #1)
Growing nicely! Quite a few Cello fry, topline form is still a little questionable but seem to be evening out.
Hatched 11/21/25
50x50 Hybrid x Wild
Hybrid 06
(Office Tank)
Hatched! This is a very small spawn. They wrapped a bit but clearly weren't the best pairing. The fry are growing quickly. May try again in the spring.
