In early 2024 I started thinking about what I'd like to work on in the future. My yellow koi line was finally producing the bettas I was wanting to create, I had given up on my marble dumbos, and I was ready to start my next project. It was around this time that Prism Bettas teamed up with Franks Bettas to bring in wild types. I instantly fell in love with a specific yellow male with a long tail and cyan striping. I impulse purchased him and a yellow female. At the time I figured I would pair him to my yellow koi line to take it in a new direction, but life took me in a new direction. My company had unexpectedly shut down, and my new job took me across the country. I was able to bring the spadetails and a few other bettas with me, but was unable to breed at that time. A year passed, I bought a house, went through grief, and finally had a second to breath again. It was in this time I thought about bettas. The ones I brought with me had been living in their own tanks, but hadn't been conditioned in a long time. I started conditioning them to see who would be interested in breeding and found that the Spadetails were still good to go! After a lot of research, I puchased a group of plakat females and started this line!
Form
A Spade Tail Caudal Fin that is pointy and evenly balanced on top and bottom.
Long ventral fins with no splitting
Other fins should match the Betta Standard
A Strong Topline that is smooth with no bumps or divots
Personality
Males should be lively and spirited. Not too aggressive with the females. They should have the correct betta instincts and not be shy.
Females should be equally spirited but be able to cohabitate together. They should be willing to flare at males and not be shy.

Wild x HMPK
Hybrid 01c
100g pond
They are growing nicely, lots of red in the fry, some blue, some evidence of nemo spots. Good form so far.
Hatched 7/30/25
50x50 Hybrid x Wild
Hybrid 02a
(25g pond #1)
Interesting split of fry so far. Some look more wild, while others are more koi looking. The wilds are growing slower then the koi looking ones. There are yellow, blue, copper, and red fry.
Eggs 10/9/25
Wild x HMPK
Hybrid 01d
(25g pond #2)
This male has been finicky to breed. I've paired him with a few different females and he finally got eggs with my hybrid girl!
Hatched 10/03/25
50x50 Hybrid x Wild
Hybrid 02c
(25g pond #3)
Fry are hatched and free swimming with papa!
Hatched 5/5/25
Wild x Wild
Wild 01
300g Pond
The fry were very slow growing, but developed a particularly nice female I plan to use. The males are too easy going and won't be bred.
