Gold Plakat Male
This is probably my favorite male to come through my fish room in a while! His name is Yarrow. I am obsessed with his colors and personality. Such a fun betta! His form has some room for improvemnent, so hopefully we get some nicer fry.
Hybrid Marble Female
Prim is from my Hybrid 01 Spawn! She has an amazing personality for the sorority. She is peaceful with the other girls and will swim through my fingers for food. Her orange has stayed as she ages, but a blue mask has been starting to take over just like with her mother and brothers.
Zinna is from my Wild 02 Spawn. She is a bit more reserved in the sorority with people, but friendly with the other girls. She does come up to say hi but from a distance.
Goals
This is my first time pairing half sisters to the same male. I am very curious to see what traits will show with each of them. The male's head shape has a lot of room for improvement. I am hopeful that it will be ok since the females family has been pretty nice so far. With Prim , I am hoping to get a lot of nice iridescent fry with strong orange and yellows. Perhaps we'll get some koi since she carries the gene, but I'm not too worried about that. With Zinna I am hoping to get some similar looking fry to Yarrow, but expect that they'll come with pineapple or other wild traits. This is also my first time pairing a hybrid back to a koi so I am unsure if we'll fully lose the spadetail gene, if it'll be subdued, or if we'll get a variety of fry.
Strong iridescent mask
Yellow or orange bases
Some koi or marble
Some spadetails

Started jarring the biggest few males to encourage fin growth. They started flaring after an hour! Normally my wild mixes take a week or so to get comfortable in the jars so this is a great sign!
The rest of the spawn has some good growers as well. I have some equally sized females to the jarred males, then others that are smaller. The stragglers just aren't thriving so I decided to do a large cull to focus on the ones that are. I am thinking the smallest may be from my Wild Female mother who's own spawn was also extremely slow to grow. I am thinking there may be a genetic component from her side.
The remaining fry look good though. I haven't kept a good record of how many I have left, but I'm guessing between 35 and 55 fry. It's hard to count them in such a large pond!

These spawns are doing very well! I've narrowed them down to 75 fry, and plan to cull a few more once they hit 2 months. I've started moving the biggest fry to my 100g growout pond so the smaller ones don't have to compete for food. I also took out a majority of the live plants so the food can be distributed easily.
Larger ones are already moving to shredded blood worms which should accelerate their growth even more. Smaller ones are still on tubifex worms and live Moina.
