Gold Koi

Goals

This is more of an impulse spawn outside of my Hybrid project!  I really like both this male and female and wanted to pair them in the hopes his gold iridescent scales will combine with her koi colors.  Her form is also much better then his so I'm hoping she'll even out the fry!

Deformities :  Chronic SBD issues in some of the fry, culled 5 at 2 months old.  No more issues with others.

4.5 months old

Starting to rehome.  These bettas turned out so lovely!  I got a few who marbled out of the blue layer who I plan to use for the next generations.  I'll definitely pair them in with my hybrids, but I'm debating trying to make solid colors, or to refine the koi.  Maybe I'll do both next year! 

3.5 months old

Remaining 20 Fry are amazing.  Super healthy, vibrant colors, and a full iridescent coverage, strong personalities. I'm missing the koi spots, no surprise there, but I am super hopeful for that in the next generation! 

2 months old

Had to cull a few fry from chronic swim bladder disease issues.  I'm keeping an eye on them, but it's reminding me of my past red koi spawn which also had chronic SBD issues.
