Goals
Uniqueness and diversity among the spawn (I’m trying to stay away from an ideal everyone should look like this exact carbon copy) I love the surprise and uniqueness and have found that it’s typically healthier to have more diversity in the genetics most times anyway!
Excellent form with strong fins and a proportionate figure. For now I mostly care about a nice head shape, even top line, and functional not too exaggerated fins. I’m using the betta standards as a reference on the fins but eventually I’d like to get closer to the smaller more robust fins similar to that of wild bettas.
Health and longevity with no significant complications with the spawn. I’d love for these guys to be healthy, happy, and live long lives and start coming away from the inbred genetic disasters found in most pet stores.

This week the babies have much more noticeable personalities, and I can even recognize a few out of the bunch! They have filled out nicely this week and have a variety of color coming in on their fins and scales. The most frequent color I am seeing is greenish-teal, additionally, there is a fair bit of yellows and deep blues. Many still remain cellophane. There are also a few white iridescents and reds! They have become much stronger swimmers and are handling more water depth well. There are still some struggling with swim-bladder development. I’m hoping that increasing water volume will help.
