Lychee - Male White Plakat

Lychee came from my Yellow Koi x Dumbo spawn. I absolutely loved his look and thought he'd make a fun pair with Strawberry!

Strawberry - Female Red Fancy

Strawberry is from the Yellow Koi 3a spawn from the spring of 2023. I don't typically breed bettas so young, but she had developed well, was eggy, and had a good temperament for breeding. She never marbled.

Goals

I chose this pair for a few reasons. Both bettas had really nice form, sharp fins, and nice looks, and shared the same father. This meant that they both carried the Yellow gene, low marbling, and the chance to produce fry that didn't marble over time. I was really hopeful that they'd have the best qualities coming from both sides.

Hatched : 02-12-24

Amount : 15

Deformities : One case of dwarfism, two bumpy heads

Colors : Yellow, Copper, Reds, Kois, Fancies

Goals Met : Great colors, great form with most, some never marbled with age while others marbled to copper by 1 year old.

Continue : The average lifespan of these fry were 1.5 years. I tried combining them with wilds to see if that would produce healthier fish but it did not help. I absolutely love the fish that were produced from this line, and it is so saddening to say it, but I will not be continuing this line. 6 years gone :(
